2012 Poster Art

So how do you like the poster art for 2012? I took the photo above of Leonard Long's birdhouses and created a painting of it. It turned out so well that I decided to use it as the artwork for the 2012 Birdhouse Contest. Look for it on posters and brochures around our area. And if you really like it, you can purchase notecards and prints.

Welcome to the 2012 St. Patrick's Birdhouse Contest!

DUBLIN MALL

Submit Entries: Saturday, March 10, 9 am - 6 pm

Awards Ceremony: Friday, March 16, 5:00 pm

It's finally here: the countdown to the 2012 St. Patrick's Birdhouse Contest! Time to finalize your plans and build and/or decorate that award-winning birdhouse for the contest on March 10.

So what's new for this year? Here's the quick list . . . .

·         The entry form is now online

·         There will be a $5 per person entry fee to help cover the costs of this event

·         There is a new category for 2012, Dublin's Bicentennial Theme

·         Though the dimensions are still 2' x 2' x 2', that volume (8 cubic feet) will be considered if you want to make your birdhouse just a little taller or a little wider

·         A Judges Handbook has been developed and is now online

·         The birdhouses will be on display for a whole week

·         Active or retired US military service men and women will be honored

·         People's Choice voting will be online in addition to voting at the Dublin Mall

As always, I am so excited about the birdhouse contest. I can't wait to see all the clever ideas and outstanding craftsmanship shown in these little works of art.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you and seeing your award-winning birdhouse on March 10.

Fundraisers

This contest has grown by leaps and bounds since the first year. And with that growth comes increased expenses. More categories mean more opportunities to win and so more ribbons are needed. The mailing list has gone from 30 to over almost 300, so more postage is needed. And even though sponsors are generous, there is still advertising, printing, and website operations to pay for.

So this year, a variety of items are for sale. ALL proceeds go to funding the contest and your contribution is tax-deductable because the St. Patrick's Festival is a 501C3 non-profit organization. You can purchase online or at the contest. Click on the blue tab labeled "Fundraisers" to check out these items.

Thank you for supporting this contest, not only with your participation, but with your donations and purchases. The St. Patrick's Birdhouse Contest has become a fun event that folks really look forward to every year. Your contribution will ensure that this contest keeps going and gets bigger and better every year!
